Kidney Failure and Dialysis Videos

  1. Home Hemodialysis Nxstage Machine Setup
This is a video of me and my partner showing you how to set up the nxstage machine for home hemodialysis, I learnt to set up ina few days and you will see how easy and straight forward it is setting the the nxstage machine up. So for anyone thinking about tryng home hemodialysis I encourage you to do so and to watch the video to see how the nxstage machine is set up. The company that provides the nxstage machine is an american company named fresenius.
  2. Home Hemodialysis Connecting To Nxstage Machine
In this me and my partner show you how to connect to the nxstage machine for home hemodialysis using a neckline/chestline, as you will see again it is easy and straight forward once you get the hang of it. The most I struggled with when I was learning was putting the gloves on so it gives you an insight of how easy it must be if I thought the hardest part was putting the gloves on. So anyone wanting to see how to connect yourself to the nxstage machine watch this video and hopefully it can encourage you to try home hemodialysis using the nxstage machine.
  3. How To Do Peritoneal Dialysis APD
This video is of me doing peritoneal dialysis APD which means automated peritoneal dialysis, it is performed overnight while you sleep. as you can see it is easy and straight forward in setting up and connecting yourself so if any of you are thinking of moving to home dialysis and can't decide whether to do pd or home hemodialysis this I hope will encourage you to realise how easy it is to do. The only thing I did not like about PD was the drain pain which means when your stomach has drained all the fluid out the tube inside may scrape against your peritoneum.
  4. Home Hemodialysis Disconnecting From Nxstage Machine
In this video me and my partner show you how to disconnect from the home hemodialysis nxstage machine using a neckline/chestline. It is easy and straight forward and the hardest part for me is putting the blue cover under the lines so my partner usually lifts the lines up for me. When you watch the video you will see how easy it is and I how it inspires you to try home hemodialysis using the nxstage machine, It is a lot better for you than going to the hospital for 4 hours each time.
  5. How To Do Injections on Home Hemodialysis Nxstage Machine
In this video me and my partner show you how to do injections while you are on home hemodialysis. The good thing about injections while you are on home hemodalsis is you can put them through the lines instead of your body so that’s one less needle. Hopefully this video will encourage you to think about home dialysis because as you can see there are many benefits to gain.
  6. How To Do Peritoneal Dialysis CAPD Draining
This is a video of me showing you how to do peritoneal dialysis CAPD which means continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis it is performed 3 - 4 times a day depending what your doctor prescribes. it is done manually and you do it every 4 hours. This is when I first went on dialysis after my kidney transplant failed before going on the overnight peritoneal dialysis. It is easy and straight forward setting up and doing dialysis so I hope I have encouraged you to at least give either peritoneal dialysis or home hemodialysis a go to see if you like it better than the hospital.
  7. How To Do Blood Test While on Home Hemodialysis
This is a video me and my partner did to show you how to do your monthly bloods while you are on home hemodialysis using a neckline/chestline catheter. You will need to do the bloods yourself and as you can see it is easy and straight forward, hope ,y video helps you and encourages you to try home dialysis.
  8. How To Clean PD Dialysis Exit Site
This video is when I first started peritoneal dialysis in 2015 and because you have a catheter inserted into your peritoneum you need to keep very clean because you can get peritonitis which can be fatal if not caught in time. I have had it twice and the pain in the stomach is very painful and I would not want it again. You need to change the dressing every other day or when you get out the shower and when you clean it you need to clean in a circular motion and then put some cream around it. It gets frustrating when you need to always change it but it is what we need to do to survive. Hopefully this video helps you.
